In Marseille, retired men most of them of Algerian nationality live in hotels situated around St Charles’ Station on a permanent or occasional basis. They’ve come to France to work without their family. After a hard going working life, they share their time between Algeria and France, where they receive their pension as well as medical care.
Retraite is the result of my work with the poet Habib Tengour. You will find his text in the book presented here.
Completed in 2004 this work marks the end of my involvement in documentary.
